The Strongsville Historical Society is thrilled to announce the return of one of the community’s most colorful summer traditions – the 13th Annual Chalk Walk, taking place Saturday, June 13th in the charming Strongsville Historical Village.
For one vibrant day, the Village sidewalks will transform into open-air galleries as young artists – and the young at heart – cover the paths with creativity, imagination, and plenty of chalk dust. This fun, free, family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to pick up a piece of chalk and make their mark. All chalk is provided, so everyone can join in the fun.
Artists may begin creating their masterpieces at 10:00 AM. Judging will take place at 12:00 PM, with winners announced and prizes awarded at 1:00 PM across several age categories.
“The Chalk Walk is one of our favorite ways to bring families into the Village,” said the Strongsville Historical Society. “It’s joyful, it’s creative, and it brings our community together in such a colorful way.”
2026 Theme: “We Celebrate America” – Honoring America250
This year’s Chalk Walk embraces the nationwide America250 commemoration with the theme “We Celebrate America.” Young artists are encouraged to explore and interpret:
- Important moments in American history
- Famous Americans – inventors, explorers, artists, musicians, and more
- Iconic national symbols such as the bald eagle, Liberty Bell, or Statue of Liberty
- Creative interpretations of the America flag
- Beloved landmarks like Mount Rushmore or the Golden Gate Bridge
- Favorite places in Ohio
From historical inspiration to imaginative patriotism, the sky is truly the limit.
Explore the Village During the Event
All eight historic buildings in the Strongsville Historical Village will be open for tours throughout the Chalk Walk. Visitors are invited to explore local history, enjoy hands-on learning, and experience the Village in full summer charm. Don’t miss the debut of our new America250 exhibit, including a fun photo opportunity where guests can “sign the Declaration of Independence.”
Whether you’re a budding artist, a seasoned doodler, or simply someone who loves a lively community event, the Chalk Walk promises a morning full of color, creativity, and community spirit.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled. Chalk will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own, as long as it is washable with water and will not stain the sidewalk. PLEASE NOTE: No words, pictures, or symbols of any vulgar nature will be permitted in works of art.

Founded in 1962, the Strongsville Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the stories, artifacts, and traditions that define the community’s past. Through educational programs, events, and stewardship of the Historic Village, the Society works to ensure that Strongsville’s history remains vibrant and accessible for future generations.
The Strongsville Historical Village is available for tours every Wednesday April through October 10 a.m.-2 p.m. No reservations are needed. Each tour is approximately 90 minutes.
